Sorry I have taken so long to post an update, In January I was optimistic that after starting a new chemo cycle that there would be more consistent side effects allowing me to post more often. However the road has not been smooth and I have been up and down with continual challenges. For the last 3 weeks I have been dealing with chest congestion and a cold which really drained me, I have been on antibiotics and mostly resting throughout the day. This week was a lighter chemo week so I have gained some strength back and was able to start doing small tasks around the house again which is encouraging.
Some good news is that my nausea which continually plagued me in the past has become much more manageable, this is a huge relief! I am trying to find progress in each day no matter how small it is, although this is an off road adventure I am slowly making my way through it. I can’t say enough how much I appreciate your encouragement, support and prayers. I am so thankful to be surrounded by such a committed group. Thank you!
For those interested in my treatment, here is a simple view of what my 3 week cycle looks like.
I go to KGH every Wednesday for treatment
Wednesday 1 – I receive three different Chemo Drugs, I start steroids for 5 days, I start an oral chemo every day at home
Wednesday 2 – I receive one chemo drug, continue with oral chemo every day at home
Wednesday 3 – I receive one chemo drug, stop the oral chemo at home for one week
This 3 week cycle is planned to repeat until the summer, then the drugs will be changed slightly as some of them have a max consumption that is allowed.
